Worshiping Dionysus

What is vital to thrive...

Gather, be merry, drink wine…

We all know the reasons why Dionysus was popular among the Greeks and the god, but let’s go deeper into that myth…

Dionysus teaches us to prioritize:

  1. Primal Joy

    • Our spirit desires to be unleashed with unrestrained joy. Letting go of ego or fear.

      • Joy is a right of life and doesn’t have to be bought by material means.

      • Natural joy is sought in the things that fascinate you the most, that connect you to your roots and your spiritual pod.

  2. Fertile Soil

    • The earth thrives with abundant vegetation, plants and animals. Having a reciprocity give and receive.

      • The harvest is an important part of celebration and wellbeing.

      • Without the endurance of healthy crops our communities would not have much to bond over. Without the greenery running free, our fellow creatures would not have the habitat to thrive in.

  3. Festivals

    • The act of merry-making, gathering to be in community brings purpose and strength to the people.

      • In each season, we come to celebrate a new pace of living. Together we can support another in our travels towards more new beginnings, middles and endings.

      • The village is as strong as it’s bondage to the people it harbors. In festivity, we carry on the narrative and vibration of our people.

  4. Theater

    • As humans, we are naturally compelled to connect to another through stories. How else can we understand ourselves, commensurate and laugh in the shared experience of life.

      • We can cackle at our human-ness and our idioscransities in dance, in play, in song, in poetry…in fact, it’s in our nature to reflect each other’s experience.

      • Stories of us. The human heart knows best what we carry. There’s so much to know. So much more to feel. More to say. Let us reinvent ourselves with the muses. Rediscover life through theater.

Dionysus is definitely here for a good time and life should be a celebration we hold together. What mythology inspires you and encourages you to build a better livelihood? Please share with the community!
